Three-Star Quality Rating System

In addition to our state and city license, West Park Discovery World, Inc. received its accreditation by the National Academy of Early Childhood Programs, the nation's leading organization of early childhood professionals.  The National Academy operates a national, voluntary accreditation system which identifies high quality early childhood programs and schools.

To earn NAEYC Accreditation, we went through an extensive self-study process, measuring our program and its services against the ten new NAEYC Early Childhood Program Standards and more than 400 related Accreditation Criteria, as well as unannounced on-site visits by NAEYC Assessors during the accreditation process, which lasts for 5 years.

We're excited and proud to have earned the mark of quality from NAEYC and to be recognized for our commitment to reaching the highest professional standards.  Our Accreditation lets families in our community know that their children are getting the best care and early learning experiences possible in our program.

In recognition of our excellent child care program and our ongoing commitment to children, West Park Discovery World, Inc. received a Three-Star Step Up To Quality Award (The Highest Rating Possible!) from the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services - Bureau of Child Care and Development, the state agency responsible for licensing and promoting high standards among Ohio's child care centers.  Step Up To Quality is a voluntary rating system for early care and education programs.  To receive a Three-Star Step Up to Quality Award, we met the following criteria:

• Staff/child ratios in all classrooms meet national high-quality early care and education standards.  A ratio of one teacher for every nine preschoolers (ages 36-48 mos.), one teacher for every 10 preschoolers (ages 48-60 mos.) and one teacher for every 15 school-aged children (ages 5-15 years).

• All  lead teachers have a degree in Early Childhood Education, specialized training on the Ohio's Early Learning Content Standards, and receive 15 hours of child development training per year, above licensing requirements.

• Program employees receive at least three employee benefits.  This policy results in a lower turnover rate.

We are pleased to receive this award.  It shows parents that we are serious about the quality of our program.  What this means for families is more and better educated teachers working at our facility, a commitment to making early learning an important part of our program and a higher degree of professionalism all around.
